Nightmare Moon Halloween

Halloween has to be my favorite holiday. I admit I didnt go all out this year like I normally do for it. I did make a bat out of red lights and had my skeleton dungeon door up though. This year is was more about the costume.

I made a Nightmare Moon costume! I made a helmet with the curves like in the show and her breast plate. Then I made some arm and leg guards (sorry I don't know the correct armor terminology). Then I put on a cape with her cutie mark on both sides on and called it good. I had much more that I could have done but considering how long it took to make just the parts I had, it was near impossible for me to put everything that eventually came to mind in it. I spent four nearly sleepless days and nights making it to have it ready for Sunday. You can see it in this video made by another fan of the show.

You can get a decent look at me at 1:37 though I dont think any good shots of the cutie marks I put on my cape are in there.

I wish I had some high quality pictures to show you but unfortunately tragedy befell my costume that day. I shall tell you of it later but I thought you might want to know the basics of how I made my costume.

A good pony night

Allright so even though I spent from 7am to 9pm going to school and working the evening made it all better. There is currently a coupon to get a free poster at walmart til oct 31st. So I went and got a wonderbolts one!

Then when I was heading to the bus stop I got hollered at for being hot. Picked me up a bit. Finally after I got back home around ten I spent the night finishing this guy up. I am sort of proud of it. I made him all by myself with no other parts from any other sprites used. I may adjust him sometime in the future but for now he is so awesome. /)^3^(\
So overall an awesome evening. Now this weekend I have to get to making mine and everypony else's Halloween costumes. Im thinking of going traditional with my brushable ponies. A vampire, witch, frankenstein: The classics.

Dressed up Brushables

Making dresses for these ponies are hard. Its not the sewing or coming up with designs that is hard. It is making them so small. The room in between the two front legs can barely fit a sliver of fabric making the design inherently weaker and more likely to break when switching it out. I may have to get the fashion ponies now to make some better quality dresses. Dang after I had just completed my mane 7 collection too. (Cheerilee counts as one of my mane 7  ;P  )

Well here are some pics

Keyboard Scoots

I found myself inspired to stay up late making making more videos I dont know if I'll regret or not. Actually I think I made some pretty funny ones this time. I took the initial idea of Scoots being keyboard cat from Xriss777 and ran with it. I also made a base keyboard scoots so others can make a video with it pretty painlessly.

They are embedded below

Back again, now with brushable ponies!

Hey I know its been awhile since I have updated. I moved shortly after my last update and then life and spriting took hold. I added a ton more sprites to the desktop pony project like soarin', opalescence, a royal guard and then what felt like alot of little animations for already made characters.

Well I finally broke down (maybe the phrase 'saw the light' would work better, hmm) and bought a pony. I was super nervous while buying it too but now I feel like a silly foal for having felt that way in the first place. Originally I wanted a molded twilight sparkle so I could take her on my trips and not have to worry about ruining her mane with water or by being tucked away in a pocket but brushable was all I found so I got her and I ended up grabbing a Rainbow Dash I found stashed away too.

Now I am planning on starting to make some different clothes for her since I havent seen much in the way of fashion for the toy ponies. Tons of things on how to style the mane, make a custom but no gala dresses or even regular outfits (that Ive seen). So I vow to correct that. My inner Rarity is shining through. I've never done anything in the fashion line before so wish me luck. I have done some cross stitching (putting designs on fabric), made a few teddy bears (may have to try making a Rarity plush if I end up with more free time) and done basic repairs but it has been awhile so hopefully I end up with something decent. I will have something up here to show you by the end of next week

My Journey Into Desktop Ponies

Last week I rediscovered desktop ponies and found that it had infinity improved since I last tried it. The community had kind of created a standard look to the ponies and the ponies seemed way less buggy and less computer intensive as they once were. Now there was only one thing wrong. There was no Big Macintosh! There was lots of side ponies that had more animations than just the standard stand and trot but yet no Big Mac. I figured I would try my hand at correcting that.

So I tried spriting which I am not all that familiar with. I looked and found a Big Mac sprite, which was unanimated, that I thought looked pretty good and got to work. I changed the face so he looked less depressed and made the back curve less so he would look stronger, then I animated. Here are my results.

Not bad for never really spriting before. The community itself though didn't seem too thrilled with it though. Since it is a really nice community no one outright called me a dumbass but it was hinted at and many people seemed annoyed that I wasn't using the new base macintosh. Now the original Big Mac I found and the new base are both made by the same person but I think the newer one makes Mac look pretty girly. He is supposed to be strong but he looks kinda weak. So when I didn't pick that one, I think I made the right decision. Plus I can always use my sprites if that newer Mac ever does get animated, which people have been talking about doing animations for Big Mac since I first found Desktop Ponies months ago and yet has never happened. I did correct the bucking animation that no one liked, since I messed up the pony anatomy, though I am hesitant to show it to the community since they would probably be annoyed that I'm still trying with this Big Mac instead of the new one. So I will post it here and let whoever finds it here enjoy it. Plus if you are really good you could add the apple in Applejacks folder and have it fall when Big Mac bucks.

What Have I Done?!!

Ok so I've been keeping up with drawing ponies but then I saw this comic The-Mysterious-Ticking-Noise and I had to find out what it would sound like and before I knew it I was singing and editing and making this creation right here

Now Ive never really edited audio before but I downloaded Audacity and tried my best. After I finished that one I also tried doing one with real pony voices but I had trouble with trying to get background music and noise out so I will try again later today but no promises.

Daww

Ok so the next drawings were a pony with wings and pony as a filly. I did scratch for flying with guitar heads for wings but I ran out of time before I was able to make it look good so instead I will put up my little sleepy Fluttershy and a quick outline of little AJ

I must say its tough work trying to finish a drawing everyday and trying to make it look good. Oh well I will get faster with practice and hopefully better.

The start of art

Hey Everypony,

I am StarStep and I am going to use this blog to post the things I am currently doing with My little pony: Friendship is magic.  Mostly it will be artwork (most done for the training grounds for Equestria Daily) and a few videos and maybe some other things if the inspiration hits me.

So to start out here are the first three drawings I have done for the training grounds. Sorry the first two are hard to see but there was no store open this memorial day weekend that had the stuff necessary to get the scanner I acquired up and going but they came out well for using a webcam. They will be scanned in later.

I missed the standing pony one so the first one is a jumping pony.
I chose Pinkie Pie jumping on cupcakes or muffins, maybe both!

Next is trixie cosplay ponies.
I put the caption in to make people realize that rarity had traded a brand new Galloping Gala dress for trixie's old clothes because that's what she'd do but I dont think it came across that way. Anyway I will be revisiting this image to photoshop and make Trixie's dress look great. I mean its got the ursa minor paws with the symbol on the hat and still kept her signature stars on parts of it. Yes I was listening to art of the dress the whole time I was designing it. Yeah I know I can be a dork.

Last is my entry for pony eating a fruit.
Soarin' was the first pony that came to mind when I read eating and since I haven't seen him in the other days of the training ground. I figured he was due. I retraced my original work in photoshop since I had some extra time today. Here you can compare the two.
Thats all for today.
